The truth behind four fitted wardrobe myths

Fitted wardrobes can be very useful, and a stylish addition to a room, but there are also a lot of misconceptions about how they work and whether they are suitable for particular spaces. Explaining these myths may help you make a decision about whether fitted wardrobes are right for you.

The design is restricted

Part of the point behind fitted wardrobes and made to measure wardrobe doors is that they can be the exact size you need in your room, but there is a perception that this limits other aspects of the style. This is not true, as there are many classic and modern designs available, often with a high degree of customisation.

They are expensive

Upfront costs for buying and installing fitted wardrobes may be higher, but as a long term investment, the benefits in terms of increased bedroom space, enhanced aesthetics and wider home value should more than repay it.

Installation is messy and time consuming

Professional installers have the training and experience to make installation minimally disruptive and to ensure that any mess is cleaned and tidied before they leave.

Once installed, they cannot be removed

You do not need to remove your wardrobe. As your needs and preferences change, you can upgrade it, reconfiguring the shelves, updating the made to measure wardrobe doors or just giving it a repaint.

Now, fitted wardrobes may not be suitable for every bedroom, but many of their commonly cited problems are easy to resolve, or are not problems at all. You should certainly consider them with an open mind.
