In 1911, Willis Haviland Carrier revealed his basic rational psychometric formula to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Air conditioning is a process that consists in regulating its temperature and humidity level, as well as renewing and cleaning the air, that is, its filtering or purification.

How many types of air conditioning are there?

There are different types of air conditioning and they are selected depending on the required capacity such as the space and the material of the place where you want to install. The 3 large groups in which they are divided are Residential, Commercial and Industrial Type.

Next, we will mention the different teams of Residence and Commercial type:


They incorporate the whole system in a box coupled with wheels so that it can be easily transported from one room to another.

It has a flexible hose that expels hot air outwards.


It does not require installation, however, they depend on a duct or compressor (depending on the model) that will have to be taken outside through a window.

They are easily transported and emit very little noise.


They are usually quite expensive if we consider the value for money.

They are not very powerful.


A square box contains all the functional parts of the system.

It must be placed in a hole in the wall or window so that one half of the device is outside and the other half is inside.


Low installation cost that normally requires a metal base fixed to the wall or welded to the blacksmith frame.

Easy maintenance.


They usually consume a little more electricity.

They are, generally, noisy and in some communities are not allowed to have to make a large gap in the wall of the building.

Minisplit High Wall

These are the equipment that is currently being installed as they have many advantages over those of the window and are relatively inexpensive.

The unit that contains the compressor is located on the outside (condenser) of the house or building and communicates with the indoor unit (evaporator) by means of tubes so that the hole to be made in the wall is relatively small.

The variety of powers offered is very wide.


The noise levels are very low and very aesthetic, especially the latest generation.

Maintenance is relatively simple.


The installation is more complicated than in the window models so its cost is higher.

It is difficult to place in certain places, such as pre-fabricated walls or tablaroca so it is convenient to install them on a solid wall

Cassette Type Minisplit

Its operation is similar to those of wall although they are usually of greater capacity.

Its installation is more expensive and complex.


High capacity in single equipment (from 18000 to 36000 BTU) is very suitable for large spaces.


It requires a false ceiling for installation and is usually somewhat louder.

Fan & Coil Type Minisplit

The idea is the same as in the Split-type but the installation is much larger.

It is used in complete conditioning of buildings.

Its cost is very high but they offer a high level of comfort.

Maintenance is simple and spaced over time.


The high cost of installation, use of ducts, grilles or diffusers in soffits, drywall boxes and suspended ceilings.
