New trends of home decor

Just like nature changes when a new season comes, it’s nice to consider modeling the same effect in your home. Don’t just stop at the spring cleaning process. Create a ritual of spring decorating. Since it’s a new season, try these ideas and reflect the newness in your decor.

1. Paint the interior doors.
Instead of using paint on the walls, consider the interior doors. If the living room has doors that lead to the patio, basement or bathroom, paint them all an interesting color. You can even consider trying an ombre effect on all of the doors. For a finishing touch, change the knobs and doorplates so that they all look consistent. As you work on painting the interior doors, it’s a good idea to use painter’s tape to line the surface area. You don’t want to accidentally paint portions of the wall. Don’t forget to protect the floors as well. Flooring paper is excellent because it’s an easy way to protect the floors and it’s also simple to discard of. Some people like to use tarp on the floor, but the clean-up process with tarp isn’t as streamlined. Painting is a tough job on its own. Make the rest of the process as easy as possible.

2. Change the accessories.
Pillows, lampshades and rugs are a few of the fun accessories you can use to change a living room. However, consider other items like oversized mirrors and a statement chair. If you have a mantel and a fireplace, add an architectural sculpture to the mantel along with beautiful pictures of your loved ones. Pictures always add a sense of nostalgia and togetherness.

3. Change window treatments.
Natural light does so much to breathe new life into a space and make it look inviting. Perhaps you’re a person who likes privacy while you’re watching a good movie. Purchase curtains and blinds that are easy to open and close as you wish. When you have friends over to visit, open the curtains and blinds to let the sunlight in. Don’t miss out on the power of Vitamin D in home decor.

4. Utilize the ceiling space.
In most homes, the ceiling is typically ignored. Unless there’s something visibly wrong with it like a stain from a leak, many people don’t look at the ceiling as a space to decorate. It’s the largest open space in any room and there’s so much potential for beauty. Make a huge statement by painting the ceiling or adding a patterned stencil. You can even add wallpaper to the ceiling. You’ll need a ladder for this type of project. It’s also wise to use TRIMACO® protective paper on the floors. In creating a beautiful ceiling, you don’t want to destroy the floor. Expect this type of project to take a few days.
